Microsoft to continue discussions on potential TikTok purchase in the United States

  • Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and President Donald J. Trump are still working out the viability of this acquisition

  • Microsoft will move quickly to pursue discussions with TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, completing these discussions no later than September 15, 2020.

  • Microsoft seeks to ensure that all private data of TikTok’s American users is transferred to and remains in the United States.

Netflix is Unbundling Data Science Workflows with Metaflow and AWS Step Functions

  • This integration allows the users of Metaflow to schedule their production workflows using a highly available, scalable, maintenance-free service.

  • Metaflow, a data science framework that Netflix open-sourced in December 2019, is designed around the idea of independent layers.

  • Metaflow is designed to be used in conjunction with a production-grade job scheduler but Netlfix is releasing the first open-source integration with such a scheduler, AWS Step Functions.

Salesforce Positioned by Gartner as a Leader in the “Magic Quadrants”

  • This includes three categories: CRM Customer Engagement Center, Field Service Management, and Sales Force Automation.

  • The CRM customer engagement center (CEC) market includes software applications used to provide customer service and support by engaging intelligently — both proactively and reactively.

  • In response to COVID-19, service leaders in every industry had to quickly adapt and find new ways to support employees while still delivering quality service to their customers.

San Diego BioTech company BioAtla raises $72.5 million in series D financing

  • BioAtla, Inc is a global clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of Conditionally Active Biologic (CAB) antibody therapeutics.

  • Proceeds will advance CAB-AXL and CAB-ROR2 clinical programs into Phase 2 trials, CAB-CTLA-4 Phase 1 trial, and additional CAB development programs.
